Audio Samples
Here are audio samples of Daniel Butterfield's work as a music producer, arranger, composer, and mixing and mastering engineer.
This is Daniel's self-produced, self-mixed, and self-mastered, debut album, Self Confidence, as it sounds on Spotify.
Here's Self Confidence as it sounds on SoundCloud, where you can hear full tracks.
This swinging pop tune, "Be There with You," showcases Daniel's skills on the keyboard and drums. This video shows the original tracking for the record.
This classic rock tune, "What's Her Name," features Daniel's skills on the harmonica, as well as organ, guitar, and as a rhythm section. Here he is again, tracking the instruments for the record.
Here's one more instance of Daniel playing all the instruments on a track: this piece is mostly an instrumental and runs nearly seven minutes, but features improvised piano, classical guitar, trumpets, trombones, saxes, and a Latin percussion track. This is "Wonderful Time, Part 2."
This track, "Green Light Drive Away," features Daniel's talents at arranging keyboards, as well as an excellent double-tracked guitar solo.
This track features Daniel's production and engineering for an acoustic-guitar driven song with a rock chorus. This song is "Lovers at First Sight."
This song was an exercise in composing a piece of commercial-use instrumental music with different sections that could be edited. The whole track took a total of 3-4 days to compose, record and mix from scratch. It initially emerged from a test to see if the gear was working. It's called "Dance of Paradise."
This last one features Daniel Butterfield soloing on the saxophone, piano, and guitar. It's a jazz waltz called "Wastin' Away." (I'd also like to point out that I figured out how to play 4/4 time on the hi-hat with my left foot during the 6/8 sections.)
These are some of Daniel's "II-V-I Practice Tracks." He is currently mixing and mastering these, and these ones are currently complete.
